HOW TO JOURNAL · EPISODE 3 Does your journal have HOW TO JOURNAL · EPISODE 3

Does your journal have to be pretty?

Short answer: no.

I love a pretty journal. I love the stationery, the colours, the little details and spending far too long deciding which sticker belongs where. 😂

But none of that is the actual journaling.

Your journal can be messy.
It can be full of bullet points.
You can scribble.
You can change your handwriting halfway through.
You can write three pages or three words.
You can leave things unfinished.

It doesn’t have to look good. It just has to feel like yours.

And if you’re just starting, please don’t compare your first few pages to someone’s beautifully curated journal that’s been evolving for years.

There is no gold star for the prettiest page.
There is no pen licence. 😂
And nobody is checking your work.

Pretty is an option, not a requirement.

So if you’ve been waiting for the perfect notebook, the perfect pens or the perfect handwriting…

Just start.

Save this for the next time you find yourself comparing your pages to someone else’s. 🤍

You really don’t need all of this to start plannin You really don’t need all of this to start planning or journaling 😂📓

A notebook and a pen will do.

But if, like me, you happen to love stationery, then adding a few things that make you want to sit down and open the page can make it even more enjoyable.

Sticky notes.
Page flags.
Stickers.
Coloured pens.
Little reminders.

None of it is necessary.

It’s just the fun bit. ✨

And that’s something I really want to get across with this new How to Journal series: journaling doesn’t need to be complicated, expensive or aesthetically perfect.

Start with what you have.

Then make it yours.

What stationery makes you want to sit down and journal? 👀

Every month the clarity box gives you a little bit of everything to keep you inspired for the month ❤️

HOW TO JOURNAL • EPISODE 2 📓 Nobody is checking y HOW TO JOURNAL • EPISODE 2 📓

Nobody is checking your work. 😂

You don’t need perfect handwriting. You don’t need to write in full paragraphs. You can use bullet points, lists, doodles, one-word answers or whatever gets the thoughts out of your head.

And please don’t compare your day 1 to somebody else’s day 365.

The journal I’m showing you here is one of my very first from 2019. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t particularly fancy and I definitely wasn’t producing the pages I make now.

It was just where I started.

Your journaling style will evolve as you do. You’ll find things you love, things you don’t, and your pages will change with you.

So pick up the pen you have, open the notebook you’ve been saving and remember…

You don’t need a pen licence. You just need somewhere to start. 😂

Save this for the next time you find yourself comparing your journal to someone else’s. 🤍

This Solar Eclipse feels a little different… As a This Solar Eclipse feels a little different…

As a little extra to this weeks journal prompts I wanted to move away from the usual eclipse themes of “What are you releasing?” and “What are you manifesting?”
This eclipse has me thinking more about identity, authenticity and the parts of ourselves we may have outgrown without even realising it.

With the eclipse in Leo, there’s something powerful about looking at how we express ourselves, where we seek validation, and what happens when we stop trying to be who we think we should be.

So rather than asking you to create another list of things you want to call into your life, these prompts invite you to pause and ask:
Who am I becoming?
What no longer feels like me?
And what would it look like to choose myself more honestly?

Because maybe harnessing this energy isn’t about becoming someone new…

Maybe it’s about letting more of who you already are come through. 🌑🦁✨

The solar eclipse journal prompts are waiting for you ➡️scroll right and save for tomorrow’s solar eclipse.

I’m spending a quiet hour with my journal this mor I’m spending a quiet hour with my journal this morning.

Today, 8 August, marks the peak of the Lion’s Gate Portal, a date often associated with reflection, intention, abundance and new possibilities.

Whether you see it as a spiritual moment or simply as a lovely reason to pause and check in with yourself, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to journal about where you are, where you’re going and what you’re ready to leave behind.

There are no right or wrong answers here. Just a little space to listen to yourself.

Today I’m reflecting on:

➕ What is aligning for me right now?

➕ What abundance am I ready to receive?

➕ What limiting beliefs am I ready to release?

➕ How can I step more fully into my power?

➕ What is my highest vision for this next chapter?

And because this month’s Clarity Box is all about Radiance, I’m holding onto this affirmation:

“I release what no longer serves me, welcome all that is meant for me, and trust myself to step confidently into my next chapter.”

You don’t need to have the whole path figured out. Sometimes the next step becomes clearer when we simply give ourselves enough quiet to hear it. 🤍

August Plans… One thing I want to do differently August Plans…

One thing I want to do differently this month is make space for fun.

Not the kind you have to plan months in advance.
The little kind.

Moments by the sea
A slow Sunday.
Sunset dog walks.
A coffee that isn’t rushed.
Time to create simply because it feels good.

Our journals often become a place to organise life, but they’re also somewhere to capture the moments that make life feel full.

This little photo dump is how August has begun for me, and a reminder that joy belongs on the to-do list too.

✨ Which little moment has brought you joy this week?

#JournalWithMe #MindfulJournaling #SlowLiving #PlannerCommunity #AugustReset

My journal cover page, there’s a tutorial for this on our creative tier on Patreon.

Journaling at sunset, technically this was July as it was Friday last week but still, it was setting the scene for August.

Hiking on Sunday, it’s been so long since I’ve been out and thanks to @mylifeasila I was guided on such a lovely route in Wales.

This August we really are focused on enjoying the small moments on journal club, want to know more? Drop me a message. Each week I talk about my journal thoughts on the podcast. All info is on the link in my bio #journalprompts #journalwithme
